**Job summary**

Martinus is seeking a Health and Safety Advisor to support us on the upcoming Inland Rail project. This opportunity will be site-based on a 2:1 roster and attracts a generous site uplift.

**Tasks and Responsibilities**
- Monitor compliance with safety systems and procedures within the workplace and provide operational support to the project management team
- Develop relationships with superintendents and supervisors to ensure the H&S function is seen as a supporting partnership in the project delivery
- Identify areas of improvement to deliver a consistent approach to health and safety across the project
- Where required, participate in project-wide health and Safety improvement activities
- Research and assist with the development of safety systems specific to the project
- Administer safety programs for project employees
- Thorough knowledge of relevant legislation for injury management, worker's compensation and return to work procedures
- Conduct and complete incident and accident investigations
- Conduct routine safety inspections and monitoring work areas
- Establish positive working relationships with project personnel and raise awareness of health and safety risks
- Assist in the development of communications tools and records for all project safety meetings
- Prepare and maintain reports and documentation concerning aspects of project safety programs
- Monitor and evaluate project safety programs for value and effectiveness
- Maintain knowledge of applicable legislative requirements, including regulations, standards and policies
- Maintain professional relationships with regulatory bodies and clients
- Evaluate, investigate and gather information that addresses inadequacies concerning safety matters
- Review site risk registers with identified controls and support Construction Risk Assessment Workshops (CRAWs) / Safety in Design (SID) as necessary
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the project Training Scheme and associated systems and processes (LMS, VOCs, Appointments and Authorisations)

**Knowledge, Skills and Attributes**
- Experience as a HSE Advisor working on Rail or Civil Construction projects
- Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
- Current Certificate IV in TAE
- ICAM Lead Investigator and reporting techniques, with an emphasis on industry and human factors
- Inspection and report writing skills
- HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
- HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
- Drivers Licence - Class C
- HLTPAT005 Collect specimens for drugs of abuse testing (Desirable)
- Understanding of HVNL and CoR framework (Desirable)
- Internal Auditing qualifications and experience (Desirable)
- Experience working in the capacity of Principal Contractor (Desirable)
- Strong technical and document writing experience (Highly regarded)
- High Risk Work Licenses and/or RII Competencies (Highly regarded)
