**The Role**
The Assurance Manager leads a small team responsible for planning, conducting and reporting on assurance activities within the regulated community.

They require:

- Knowledge across the risk, safety and environment platforms, providing advice and leadership to stakeholders, throughout the assurance and planning process
- The ability to quickly acquire a sound understanding of risks pertaining to an organisation
- The ability to effectively communicate and manage relationships
- The ability to develop a sound understanding of an organisation’s assurance framework, and to articulate that knowledge across Defence seaworthiness systems.

**About our Team**
The Office of the Defence Seaworthiness Regulator (ODSwR) is an independent Defence Regulator.

The ODSwR is tasked with managing the Defence Seaworthiness Management System (DSwMS), a Defence-wide maritime risk management system.

It does this through:

- Scanning the maritime environment and advocating on behalf of Defence
- Providing a regulatory framework to manage maritime risks
- Assuring maritime risks are proactively considered and controlled
- Monitoring trends across the Defence Enterprise
- Providing support to the Defence maritime community through education and advice.
- Proven ability to undertake complex risk based assessments for assurance; or to conduct detailed assurance investigations into specific areas of concern that span across multiple systems
- Sound knowledge and experience in determining appropriate assurance mechanisms to use for priority ranked assurance focus areas
- Demonstrated experience in planning and designing assurance activities for Desktop, Field and Investigative assurance teams to conduct assurance activities
- Demonstrated ability to manage, supervise and participate in a small team, and ability to coach staff effectively.
