**Job Description**:
We are looking for a highly experienced and well networked lead for energy policy and regulation to be play a key role in the realisation of Squadron’s strategy.

The primary responsibility of the role is to develop and execute the Australia-wide policy and regulatory strategy on behalf of, and in coordination with Squadron Energy Leadership and its subsidiary businesses including Windlab, AIE and AIP. A key part of the role is to support the CEO to ensure that Squadron is positioned to successfully develop and execute large scale energy projects and investments.

The role is responsible for the on-going management of Squadron’s position on energy, industry, market and regulatory matters. This will include the development of a clear narrative, key messages and external content to drive the evolution of the Squadron Energy brand to be a leading advocate in the energy transition.

In addition, the role will be responsible for developing and implementing clear and impactful submissions and publications to ensure that the Squadron Energy positions are achieved.

Duties include:

- Be the internal expert on all areas relating to energy regulation, policy, market economics and drivers and levers
- Develop and articulate a policy position required by Squadron to deliver its Strategy as a significant renewable energy company.
- Undertake analysis of market dynamics and proposed reforms to understand the impact on Squadron and propose responses
- Develop a comprehensive, multi-year national engagement strategy that achieves Squadron’s policy goals
- Build highly trusted relationships for Squadron with energy market bodies
- Ensure Squadron is regarded as a highly sophisticated and engaged policy player.
- Provide support and advice to the CEO, Executive Team and Board on emerging policy risks and advocacy strategies.
- Ensure Squadron Energy and Tattarang Leadership are prepared for stakeholder meetings with briefing papers and background information.
- Proactively scan and understand the energy policy landscapes to identify opportunities for influencing, positioning, and protecting Squadron, and the Forrest Family’s, reputation, working with the External Affairs and Communications team to develop key messaging and media strategy.
- Develop and/or co-ordinate content for policy submissions.

**Qualifications**:
You hold a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (Economics, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations/Policy, Government, Stakeholder Management) or related discipline.

You have a minimum of 10-15 years’ experience in the field of energy policy and/ or regulation.

You can demonstrate high level communication and negotiation skills with proven ability to build relationships and influence effectively.

You have a deep understanding of and experience in working with Government and regulators.

You have experience working across multiple projects and managing multiple internal and external relationships/clients.

You have a track recording in building strategic, effective external relations and cut through communications.

You have demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.

You possess highly developed interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build strong stakeholder relationships both internally and externally.

You have well-developed organisational and time management skills with the ability to deliver to tight timelines whilst maintaining accuracy.

You have developed managerial skills with the ability to coach and mentor other team members across a matrix structure

You can demonstrate excellent analytical skills with an eye for quality and attention to detail.
