The Bureau of Meteorology is an essential contributor to Australia's national interests via its relationships with national security agencies and the space sector.

Observations, forecasts, advice and decision support services developed and delivered by our National Security and Space Program support a wide range of customers including Defence, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Department of Home Affairs, the Australian Space Agency and commercial operators in the defence, space energy and transport sectors.

We help Australia achieve its national security objectives by supporting: domestic and international engagement with international security partners; operations and exercises in Australia and abroad; enhanced space weather, meteorological and oceanographic capability and; assessment of climate-related strategic threats and opportunities. Our space capability supports space launches and helps to protect Australia's critical infrastructure from the effects of extreme space weather.

The Bureau seeks a high-performing General Manager to steward the 60-strong national Security and Space team, which operates from wide range of locations on 24 hrs-a-day, 365 days-a-year basis. Via contributions to the Business Solutions Group Leadership Team and Bureau Senior Leadership Team, you will influence the culture and direction of the Bureau nationally and internationally.

They will possess outstanding customer, stakeholder and partner engagement and collaboration skills, and a solution-oriented mindset. They will have a demonstrated capability to work across various levels and intersections of the public sector and private enterprise.
