
Disabilities Services Officer

**Job description: **
- Provide secretarial support, exercising sound judgment, initiative, confidentiality, and sensitivity in the performance of work.
- Perform tasks of sensitive nature, including the provision of more than routine information, the receiving and accounting for money, and assistance to clients.
- Assist with administrative functions, including data entry, filing, and document management.
- Implement client skills and activity programmes under limited supervision, either individually or as part of a team, as part of the delivery of disability services.
- Supervise and provide a wide range of personal care services to residents under limited supervision, either individually or as part of a team, as part of the delivery of disability services.
- Provide compassionate and individualised support to participants with disabilities, assisting them with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and household tasks.
- Foster a supportive and empowering environment where participants feel valued, respected, and encouraged to express their needs and preferences.
- Offer emotional support and companionship, actively listening to participants’ concerns and providing reassurance and encouragement as needed.
- Collaborate with participants, their families, and other stakeholders to identify short-term and long-term goals, aspirations, and areas of growth.
- Develop comprehensive and personalised support plans that align with participants’ strengths, preferences, and aspirations, ensuring that goals are realistic, measurable, and achievable.
- Regularly review and update support plans in consultation with participants and their support networks, adapting strategies and interventions as needed to meet changing needs and circumstances.
- Design and facilitate skill-building activities and workshops tailored to participants’ individual needs and interests, focussing on areas such as communication, social skills, personal development, and self-care.
- Provide hands-on support and guidance to participants as they learn new skills and techniques, offering constructive feedback, encouragement, and reinforcement to promote confidence and independence.
- Collaborate with allied health professionals, educators, and community organisations to access specialised resources and expertise, ensuring that participants receive comprehensive and holistic support.
- Encourage and support participants to participate in community-based activities and events that align with their interests and goals, fostering social inclusion, community connection, and meaningful engagement.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of participant interactions, progress, and outcomes, documenting observations, achievements, and challenges in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
- Prepare written reports, assessments, and case notes to communicate participant progress, goals, and support needs to relevant stakeholders, ensuring confidentiality, accuracy, and compliance with privacy regulations.
**Qualifications/Attributes**:
- Must hold a Diploma in Community or Disability Work or at least 3 years of relevant work experience in lieu of the qualification.
- Must possess at least a minimum of 2 years of post-qualification work experience.
- Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trusting relationships.
- Must be able to exhibit empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting individuals with disabilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and flexible approach.
**Salary Range**: $70,000 p.a. excluding superannuation.
**Salary**: $54,803.30 per year
