As Principal Advisor, you will be part of a small, yet responsive team within the Education, Insurer and Tribunal Services (EITS) directorate which is responsible for delivering education in relation to rehabilitation and return to work initiatives, administering workers' compensation scheme grants, scheme doctor education, providing administrative support to the Medical Assessment Tribunal as well as compliance and performance monitoring of all scheme insurers.
The primary purpose of the Principal Advisor, Education & Return to Work Services is to design, deliver and implement education resources and initiatives aimed at improving and prioritising evidence-informed rehabilitation and return to work outcomes and enhance stakeholders' understanding of the Queensland workers' compensation scheme.
**Key responsibilities include**:
- Review, evaluate and make recommendations concerning rehabilitation and return to work coordinator training courses submitted for approval by the Workers' Compensation Regulator. Identify and assist in the implementation of opportunities for continuous improvement of Rehabilitation Return to Work Co-Ordinator (RRTWC) training opportunities. Review insurer workplace rehabilitation and return to work programs, policies and procedures in accordance with the monitoring frameworks and guidelines. Participate in insurer audits as required, providing advice in relation to rehabilitation and return to work. Support the implementation of scheme doctor training on the Guidelines for Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, including identifying and assisting with continuous improvement opportunities. Monitor and analyse scheme rehabilitation and return to work performance, and undertake in-depth research into current, contentious and emerging issues. Develop and deliver scheme return to work initiatives including resources aimed at improving rehabilitation and return to work outcomes and understanding of the Queensland workers' compensation scheme, tailored to a range of audiences. Assist in the delivery of scheme grants administration activities. Represent WCRS at internal and external stakeholder engagement, events, forums and meetings. Communicate with influence, negotiate persuasively and build productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholder groups. Prepare and coordinate advice to senior management and coordinate scheme intelligence reports on contemporary, contentious and emerging issues relating to rehabilitation and return to work. Work collaboratively to promote a culture of support and accountability to continually improve team and regulator performance and ensure behaviour is in accordance with the values and vision as per the Code of Conduct.
Although not mandatory, qualifications in health sciences and proven experience in return to work/injury management are highly desirable.
