**THE ROLE**
As the Executive Treaty Coordinator, you will report to the Director, Aboriginal Policy and Reform Branch and lead a team supporting the department's coordination and engagement with the Victorian Treaty process including through input into the State's Treaty negotiation strategy and the development of Treaty content relevant to the department and participation into whole of government processes.
- The position will require a strong working knowledge of Victorian Treaty processes, as well as a combination of policy, program and project management expertise, a strong understanding of government, public administration and decision making within an evolving self-determination framework, effective stakeholder engagement, and effective briefing of the Secretary, Board of Management, Aboriginal Truth and Treaty Committee, DFFH Ministers and Cabinet or relevant Cabinet Committees.
- Core to being successful will be strong negotiation and collaboration skills and knowledge of governance processes, and a commitment to the rights of First Peoples in Victoria, including cultural rights, self-determination, Truth and Treaty
**ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE**
- Provide strategic leadership in the Treaty process on behalf of the department, acting as the primary point of contact between the Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC) (as lead negotiators) and the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (the department) and manages formal and informal engagement throughout Statewide Treaty position development.
- Coordinate across department and its portfolio agencies to deliver positions on Statewide Treaty negotiations to DPC, and ensure departmental expertise and authority is embedded in Treaty negotiations.
- Manages relationships with the department's Secretary, Ministers, expert teams and other internal stakeholders across portfolios to coordinate advice and authorisation of department positions.
