**About our client**:
The Archdiocese of Brisbane is the face of the Catholic Church in South East Queensland. The Archdiocese of Brisbane contributes to the wellbeing of communities across South East Queensland in diverse and sometimes, surprising ways. While many people primarily associate the Archdiocese with priests, churches and parish communities, they also live out their faith and mission through important work in education, social services, justice and being there to walk alongside people at critical moments in their lives. The Archdiocese of Brisbane provides employment for more than 16,000 Queenslanders who perform inspiring work stretching from the NSW border, north to Hervey Bay and Childers and west to Kingaroy.
**About the role**:
This truly is a unique career opportunity for an experienced General Manager Communication to join the Archdiocesan team. In this newly created strategic opportunity, the General Manager Communication will lead a team that communicates with key audience segments via print and digital channels while serving a vibrant and diverse Catholic Archdiocese that includes 97 parishes, Centacare and Catholic Early EdCare.
Sitting within the Communication and Engagement office, the General Manager Communication will work with the General Manager of Marketing, the Manager of Digital Strategy and the Director of Communication and Engagement to deliver a whole-of-Archdiocese approach to the development of key communication strategies, planning, and production of fresh and relevant multi-channel content that connects and resonates with clearly identified target audiences.
**Key responsibilities include**:
- Develop and manage a stakeholder communication framework which identifies key channels, insights, and opportunities across a range of audiences.
- Work closely with the General Manager Marketing and Manager of Digital Strategy to ensure relevant content reflects audience insights and is published in a coordinated and targeted way through appropriate channels.
- Lead and manage a team that produces engaging video content for The Catholic Leader, social media channels and other platforms including agency websites, fundraising EDMs, and Centacare channels. Develop special content for video campaigns or advocacy campaigns throughout the year.
- Provide guidance to leadership and senior management on communications matters, advice for crisis communications, and direction for internal and external communication priorities.
- Foster strong, cross-functional, relationships with Archdiocesan stakeholders in Centacare, Evangelisation Brisbane, Catholic Early EdCare, Brisbane Catholic Education, Government Relations, and Work Health and Safety to plan, help develop and/or disseminate content.
- Lead communication strategy meetings, including editorial meetings, inter-agency communications planning, social justice planning, advocacy campaigns and others to provide support and to help develop and/or disseminate content.
- Develop, in collaboration with the Director, Executive Directors and Director of People and Culture, an internal communication framework to inform, connect, and engage employees and their work to the mission, operational priorities, and organisational culture.
- Lead planning and production of the Archdiocese of Brisbane’s content output of print, digital and video communication for channels including The Catholic Leader print and digital channels, the Archdiocesan website, Workplace, e-newsletters and Archdiocesan social media channels.
- Manage the Internal Communication Coordinator in coordinating the goals and objectives of the Workplace platform.
- Work with the Communication and Engagement Team, Government Relations and wider stakeholders to contribute or respond to contemporary issues or public discourse.
**About you**:
- A minimum of ten years’ experience in a senior communications role.
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, or related field.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively reach a variety of audiences.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills conducive to being part of an integrated, collaborative and results-oriented team.
