The Role
ECU is seeking a Lead, Cultural Narratives and Storytelling to steer the showcasing and celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, people, art, languages, and histories in the City Campus and across all ECU.
The role will also work collaboratively with academic staff to infuse Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in learning and teaching, including participation in the development of new, innovative academic programs that highlight Indigenous knowledges and culture in ECU’s creative and visual arts programs.
Capabilities
**Qualifications**: Tertiary qualification in a relevant field with extensive subsequent experience OR equivalent level of expertise gained from a combination of experience, training or professional accreditation.
**Experience**: Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering creative arts and/or cultural programs in a large and complex organisation. A strong interest in meaningful audience engagement within a museums and gallery setting.
**Shapes Strategic Thinking**: Is concerned with innovative forward thinking, seeking and accepting challenges and opportunities through developing plans and strategies that support and are consistent with ECU’s long-term vision, direction and commercial aspirations of being a first rate, dynamic, financially sound University of the future.
**Presenting and Communicating Information**: The ability to organise and present information, views and concepts in a concise, understandable and interesting format for a variety of audiences, from the university’s internal and external communities. Involves determining the most appropriate format and vehicle for delivering information to ensure the audiences understanding of the message and its intent.
**Influencing and Networking Skills**: Ability to influence the decisions, actions or perceptions of others and to be straight forward and honest when doing so. To create networks which foster a complementary mix of knowledge, skills and abilities, in order to achieve goals and to add mutual benefit and value to the university.
**Problem Solving and Decision Making**: The ability to investigate, identify and analyse key issues and the associated alternatives, benefits and costs to develop practical solutions. Involves being creative and innovative when developing effective solutions and the ability to manage related risks. Also an understanding of when a decision needs to be escalated to others, and working to try to identify and address potential problems before they arise.
A doctoral qualification in a relevant field and extensive relevant experience, or equivalent combination of experience and/or education and/or training.
Excellence in leading creative arts and/or cultural programs in a university setting. A strong interest in meaningful audience engagement within a museums and gallery setting.
Commitment to ECU’s vision to further progress its commitments to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, staff, people, families, and communities.
Track record of successfully leading and implementing initiatives for a wide range of stakeholders.
Demonstrated capacity to build strategic networks and collaborative relationships, including the ability to interact, influence and negotiate at senior levels within and outside the University.
You will also demonstrate personal attributes that are congruent with the University’s values of Integrity, Respect, Rational Inquiry, Personal Excellence, and Courage.
Benefits & Remuneration
This full time, fixed-term position attracts remuneration of $122,934 to $148,069 plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
