**Position Information**:
Mount View High School has a strong tradition of academic, creative and performing arts and sporting success. The school has a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum offering that is supported by an Academic Enrichment Program, Leos leadership development program, award winning STEM programs and quality specialist facilities including a Learning and Exhibition and Performance Centre, state of the art gymnasium, GP clinic and a wellbeing hub. Mount View High is recognised statewide as a Lighthouse School for Agriculture. Aboriginal culture is highly valued and the Amarookoba centre provides a facility for tutoring, wellbeing, cultural and mentoring programs for Aboriginal students. Senior students have the benefit of a Senior Study Tutor, Futures Centre and opportunities to explore curricula with local secondary schools and TAFE Campuses.
With a student enrolment of approximately 960 students including 20% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, the school is a proud member of the Cessnock Community of Great Public Schools (CCGPS) and has a close working relationship with the Korreil Wonnai Aboriginal Education Consultative Group. The school has a presence at the Cessnock business Chamber of Commerce contributing to delivering, local community, employment and training opportunities.
The situational analysis identified priorities to develop, improve and extend our student's capabilities and achievement across all stages of learning, drive improved learning outcomes through explicit, consistent and research-informed quality teaching whilst using student assessment data to inform teaching and lastly, to improve wellbeing and engagement by implementing research and evidenced based strategies in a planned approach.
**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of the executive team to lead, implement and evaluate processes that address whole school priorities and build capacity, contributing to a cycle of continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to lead the PDHPE faculty to plan, implement and review curriculum and embed evidence-based teaching and learning programs to improve student engagement and learning outcomes.
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills that promote high expectations and encourage evaluative, data informed, high-quality teaching and learning in the PDHPE faculty.
- Demonstrated capacity to effectively engage Aboriginal students, families and community, promoting the notion that Aboriginal education is everyone’s business and encourages an increase in the numbers of Aboriginal students reaching their learning potential.
**General Selection Criteria**:
- Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
- Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
- Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
