Generating over 2 billion dollars of revenue annually, this leading South Australian corporation, comprising of a group of private companies and associated entities, is a national leader in retail operations. As one of Australia’s largest private business’ and employing over 5000 employees, they have an emphasis on growth and building an empowered, high-performance team. An opportunity now exists for an experienced financial controller to contribute to the business’ financial strategy and take full ownership of the transactional finance function.

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, and leading a team of up to 50 staff, you will play a critical role overseeing the delivery of all financial control activities. You will drive the team to deliver an efficient, compliant, accurate and well controlled end to end transactional finance function, building a culture of financial and data literacy in the wider business. With oversight of the end of month and EOFY deliverables you will focus on implementing and monitoring financial controls, lead the audit process, develop accounting policies, and strive for continuous process improvement.

As an experienced finance leader, you will be a technical accounting expert, with extensive experience in financial control and compliance. With process improvement at the forefront, you will have previous success reducing close timelines, setting the bar for best practice processes and standards. Highly analytical, you will have an investigative mind-set, be systems focused and resilient in nature. You will be a clear communicator and able to prepare concise, quality reporting for business users. A hands-on people leader, you will have the demonstrated capability to build high performing teams, leading by technical example. Experience working in large complex multi-site or multi-entity organisations in the retail, FMCG, industrials or manufacturing sectors will be highly advantageous.
