Our mission is to deliver creative, enriching, and person-centred services to vulnerable communities, including children, youth, and individuals with disabilities. Based in Austral, we work across homes and centres in Western and South-Western Sydney, delivering programs that focus on improving quality of life through engagement and skill-building.
**The Role**
We are looking for a passionate and adaptable Performing Arts Teacher to join our Day Programs team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and delivering engaging drama and performance programs for adults with intellectual and physical disabilities. You will tailor lessons to meet individual needs, develop acting, vocal, and presentation skills, and prepare participants for performances that showcase their talents. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified teacher who wants to make a real impact.
Some of your key duties will include (but will not be limited to):
P**rogram Development and Delivery**: Create and implement a dynamic performing arts curriculum, including lesson plans that develop acting, vocal, and performance skills for adults with disabilities. Adapt programs to accommodate individual abilities and needs.
I**nstruction and Demonstration**: Lead both individual and group sessions, demonstrating drama techniques and facilitating interactive learning experiences.
**Performance Planning**: Plan and execute performances that highlight the talents of individual students and ensembles, ensuring all participants feel supported and prepared.
**Curriculum Adaptation**: Revise teaching methods and materials as needed to address the unique needs of each participant.
**Extracurricular Activities**: Organize visits to professional performances and cultural exhibitions to broaden participants' exposure to the performing arts.
**Client Support**: Provide ongoing encouragement and support to participants, helping them achieve their personal and artistic goals.
**To be successful you need**:
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain prior to employment)
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module certificate (or willingness to obtain prior to employment)
- Current NSW Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain prior to employment)
- Current NSW Driver’s Licence
- Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain prior to employment)
- National Police Check
- Proven experience teaching drama or performing arts to individuals or groups.
- Relevant qualifications in drama, theatre, or performing arts education.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with families, support workers, and allied health professionals.
- Understanding of drama education principles and techniques.
- Ability to inspire and engage learners of all abilities.
- Compassionate, resilient, and caring with a passion for making a difference in the lives of students.
**Desirable**
- Experience working with clients with disabilities.
- Knowledge of NDIS operations.
