**Position Information**:
Birrong Girls High School is a comprehensive secondary setting with a population of 853 students, located in Sydney’s south western suburb of Birrong. The school has a diverse cultural population comprised of complex needs and interests, with 96% hailing from non-English speaking backgrounds.

- Demonstrated exemplary classroom practice and success in leading Creative and Performing Arts staff to deliver high quality, innovative and future-focused teaching and learning programs that cater for all students to achieve excellence in learning outcomes.
- Demonstrated educational leadership, at a faculty and whole school level, in developing a culture of high expectations in Creative and Performing Arts for all students.
- High level personal and interpersonal skills that facilitate authentic, engaging and impactful relationships with students, staff, parents and the community.
- Demonstrated contributions as a collegial, dynamic member of the executive leadership team leading initiatives that address whole school strategic directions and nurturing positive relationships across the school community.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
