Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and families? This is your chance to join a dedicated multi-disciplinary team delivering the Sustaining NSW Families Plus Pilot, an exciting program that provides early intervention, trauma-informed support, and specialist care for vulnerable families across Greater Newcastle.

**Where you’ll be working**

Based at Wallsend, with outreach across the Greater Newcastle area, you’ll work alongside Child and Family Health Nurses, allied health clinicians, and administrative support. This close-knit and enthusiastic team is united by a shared commitment to improving outcomes for families through collaboration, compassion, and evidence-based practice.

**What you’ll be doing**

As a Social Worker, you’ll play a key role in the care and management of every family in the program. Your work will involve:

- Delivering advanced psychosocial and parenting support to families, with a strong focus on trauma-informed and attachment-based care.
- Providing specialist consultation to Child and Family Health Nurses and contributing expert input during weekly multi-disciplinary case conferences.
- Conducting complex psychosocial assessments and developing therapeutic, family-centred care plans.
- Advocating for families and supporting them to navigate health and social care systems.
- Supervising and mentoring students or less experienced staff to support professional growth and development.

This role offers the opportunity to work autonomously while being supported by a collaborative and experienced team.

**What you’ll need to succeed**

We’re looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic professional with:

- A bachelor’s degree in Social Work (eligible for AASW membership, or equivalent qualification).
- Significant demonstrated clinical experience working with children and families, particularly in areas such as perinatal mental health, trauma, domestic violence, child protection, and substance misuse.
- Advanced therapeutic and counselling skills, with the ability to undertake complex assessments and respond effectively to family needs, including CALD communities.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to adapt your style to engage confidently with families, colleagues, and multidisciplinary teams.
- A passion and enthusiasm for working with children and families to enable them to work autonomously, utilise independent clinical reasoning, attend psychosocial assessments and advocate on behalf of the families
- The ability to work independently, use clinical reasoning, and contribute to planning and evaluating team activities.

**Requirements**:

- Holds as a minimum a bachelor’s degree in social work which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer.
- Eligibility to drive in NSW and willingness to travel as required

**What we offer**
- The opportunity to be a part of an innovative pilot program shaping the future of family and child health services.
- Work in a dynamic multi-disciplinary team environment with weekly case conferencing.
- Salary packaging options - up to $11,600 plus novated leasing.
- Fitness Passport - discounted gym and wellness access for you and your family.
