**Position Information**:
Canterbury Boys High School (420 students including 83% from a non-English speaking background and 3% of all students identify as having an Aboriginal background) with a Support Unit (Autism) of three classes situated in Sydney's inner-west, focuses on quality teaching and learning in a supportive learning environment.
Our staff are committed to excellence in boys' education centred on evidence-based teaching practice. We provide a high quality and well-rounded education that develops leadership and encourages students to take responsibility for their own learning. Our school has a culture of high expectations that values commitment to learning.
Staff, parents and students have a strong sense of community and belonging. Strong partnerships provide a range of learning opportunities, both within the classroom and as extra-curricular activities. Our academic and wellbeing programs support successful transitioning from school to further study or vocational pathways.
The school's staffing entitlement in 2024 was 43 teaching staff and 12 non-teaching staff. The school also employs a Deputy Principal, Head Teacher (Technological and Applied Studies/Creative and Performing Arts), Head Teacher (Inclusive Education) and Transition Adviser from school funds.
The school's equity funding will be used to support initiatives in the 2024 - 2027 Strategic Improvement Plan. Some funds will be used to support other activities not embedded in this plan.
A key element of our Strategic Improvement Plan is to continue to strengthen teaching and learning, with a strong focus on differentiation for High Potential and Gifted students, and to support our wellbeing initiatives, primarily attendance and HSC pathways. Our specific areas of focus will be literacy, numeracy, attendance and post-school pathways. High impact professional learning will be targeted to facilitate improvements in these focus areas.

- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with the executive team to lead, manage, and implement whole-school initiatives that support the effective implementation of the school's Strategic Improvement Plan.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and lead staff at all stages of their career through professional learning and evidence-based, reflective teaching practices to promote quality teaching, learning, and assessment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead the development of innovative teaching and learning programs that are engaging and differentiated to meet the needs of all learners, including high-potential and gifted students.
- Demonstrated a strong understanding of best practice in TAS teaching with an emphasis on boys’ education strategies.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
