Highly regarded, listed infrastructure organisation is seeking a Corporate Media Manager to join their Communications, Government and Industry team.
Reporting to the Head of Communications, Government and Industry, this critical senior role is responsible for leading the development and implementation of communications strategies, media and issues management.
Working in partnership with the Corporate Affairs, Investor Relations and Corporate Services function, key responsibilities include leading the planning, development and messaging for key financial reporting events, responses to in financial media enquiries, identifying and preparing for emerging risks, content development, maintaining media management systems and spokesperson training as well as building rapport with key media outlets.
A key focus of the position is to ensure the organisation is well understood in the financial media, enhance the whole-of-business approach to media management and alignment of messaging across markets.
**You will be responsible for**:
- Media management - develop communications strategies and media plans for financial announcements and events, including the release of financial and traffic results, Annual General Meetings and Group-wide policy announcements
- Lead efforts to create and update Group-wide media strategies and policies to help boost awareness, understanding and trust among key stakeholders / audiences
- Identify key stakeholders in financial, business and national media outlets and ensure proactive engagement plans are enacted to maintain strong relationships
- Manage incoming media enquiries and develop responses for corporate matters or announcements, including ASX releases
- Develop and maintain a Group-wide media spokesperson matrix and policy
- Coordinate media coaching, both internal and external, for company spokespersons as required
- Issues and crisis communications framework - create and maintain crisis communications plans and playbooks, that account for industry-leading practices
- Analysis, reporting and research - produce and distribute daily media summary reports to Board, Executive Committee members and other internal stakeholders
- Work across Corporate Affairs on research projects that help identify public resonance of media coverage, the impact it has on corporate reputation and what media channels key audiences pay attention to
- Work with broader Corporate Affairs, Investor Relations and Sustainability team to ensure communications opportunities are coordinated across multiple channels
- Work with the Public Affairs teams in each state to support management of media strategies and handling of media enquiries where required
**You will have**:
- Relevant qualifications in journalism, communications, public relations, commerce or business
- Extensive relevant experience in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, business / commerce
- Experience in managing media and communications strategies in the (experience in the transport, projects, infrastructure or construction sector will be highly regarded), including in a publicly-listed corporate environment
- Strong understanding of the media landscape and a solid understanding of public policy drivers and the political environment
- Experience in proactively preparing for reputational risks in a high profile, issues-rich environment and responding in live situations
- Proven ability to present complex information for financial and consumer media audiences
- Highly developed communication and writing skills, including the ability to represent the company when engaging with media
- Ability to work in a matrix management structure with shared accountabilities
- **Exposure to corporate and financial media, working for a listed organisation, with strong financial media contacts / relationships is essential**
