**Head of Sustainable Investment**

**What can you expect?**

The Head of Sustainable Investment will sit within Mercer’s Pacific Investment Management (IM) team and will lead the sustainable investment function within the IM team and across Mercer funds and options in the region. The role will be responsible for ensuring leading sustainable investment practices are integrated into the firm’s investment processes in a manner that aligns with the best interests of our investors.

Included in the role will be leading the Sustainable Investment team within the IM team and working in close collaboration with the other teams across the business, locally and globally to ensure Mercer’s sustainable investment approach reflects Mercer’s best ideas, is aligned with client needs and is implemented with excellence.

The role will report to the Chief Investment Officer, Pacific, be a member of the Investment Management Leadership (IMLT) team and play a broad leadership role across the whole IM function and the Mercer Investments business in the Pacific.

**We will count on you to**:

- Lead the sustainable investment function with Mercer funds and options across the Pacific.
- Drive the ongoing development and implementation of a best practice Sustainable Investment Policy and framework.
- Execute with excellence, including delivering on client, business and regulatory needs.
- Foster a strong risk culture within the Sustainable Investment function.
- Provide leadership to the broader IM team and Mercer Investments business.
- Furnish strong representation for Mercer at client and industry events.
- Recruit, mentor, develop and retain key investment talent.
- Actively develop own and others’ capabilities through informal and formal learning opportunities.

**What you need to have**:

- Degree in business, economics, finance or related discipline.
- Post graduate qualification in corporate governance, environmental/social science or related discipline preferred
- Appropriate licenses and continuing education, as required by Mercer policies and local regulations.
- At least 10 years’ relevant industry experience in sustainable investment, investment or sustainability-related field
- Investment management and/or asset owner experience with deep knowledge of content and implementation requirements
- Experience working with and presenting to institutional investors and Boards with a strong understanding of their needs.

- Good technical understanding of investment management processes and portfolio implementation requirements.

- Proven ability to implement robust risk management processes.
- Superior relationship management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to contribute to new business presentations to prospects.
- A ‘investor first’ approach with a high degree of flexibility and determination to find solutions to complex problems
- Compelling leadership qualities and capabilities to oversee multiple activities
- Persuasive written skills and excellent analytical, problem solving and communication skills
- Strong business acumen with excellent financial, commercial and strategic awareness
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships and develop an extensive network of contacts both internally and externally. Stakeholder management is also key to the success of this role.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and projects and associated deadlines within a team as well as independently.
