**The company**
Our client is a world leader within the Hi-tech engineering product development space, with a strength in developing cutting edge technology for an incredibly fast-paced and Niche environment. The company has a strong history in this space with a solid customer base however due to recent expansion and new product offerings this customer base has increased tenfold. In order to match this growing demand our client is looking to take on a highly engaging and skilled people leader for the mechanical department.

**The role**
Reporting into the Engineering Manager and sitting within the Engineering leadership team, your responsibilities will include:

- Day-to-day management and mentoring of the mechanical design group, from R&D opportunities through to live projects.
- Technical delivery of key projects from initial requirements, detailed design, testing & validation and manufacturing.
- Involved heavily in driving and motivating the mechanical team towards successful outcomes, working one-on-one and in group collaboration sessions to get the best out of the team.
- Offering technical support across the life cycle of key projects, this includes during all phases as well as engaging directly with customers during installation and commissioning to solve technical challenges.
- Ongoing mentoring and development of training plans for the team of mechanical designers, responsible wholly for this team and their success.

**Your background**
In order to be successful in this role, you will be:

- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics/Robotics with a thorough understanding of complex electro-mechanical products.
- Deep technical understanding of mechanical design principals and process, able to guide and mentor others through these processes.
- Must have a collaborative and open approach when leading teams of people.
- You will have solid communication skills with a proven track record of leading mechanical engineers across multiple NPD projects.
- Must be a self-starter, displaying strong resilience and passion for leading teams.
