Play a crucial role in delivering the full product budgetary and forecast requirements while devising product/promotional offerings across all categories.

The role

As part of our premium focused Merchandise team, the Merchandise Trade Manager sits in a centralized planning function that supports the delivery of financial objectives across all category lines. Reporting to the GM of Merchandise Planning & Administration, this role is focused on delivering all budgetary product forecasts and devising the financial promotional/markdown activity across David Jones. This role partners in the truest form with all planning and buying teams to ensure commercial and profitably targets for the category are met. You will work closely with all category buying, planning and concession teams including regular engagement with our executive leaders including our CEO, CFO and Merchandise GMs.

With a hybrid mix of time from home and in the office, this role will suit a passionate, highly talented and ambitious merchandise professional who is keen to be a part of Australia’s most premium retail destination.

Key Responsibilities include:

- Manage, develop and improve the monthly company forecast and inventory management processes across all merchandise business units
- Manage, develop and improve the annual budget development, administration and approval process
- Manage and drive the company’s trade program
- Manage the merchandise administration function
- Support Merchandise and cross functional company projects
- Support and develop company reporting, analysis and reviews of trade and strategic outcomes
- Engage with and influence internal business partners to implement merchandise strategy
- Demonstrated experience as either a Buyer or Merchandise Planner preferably in an apparel category
- Degree qualifications within a Finance or Business discipline
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Demonstrably strong retail and commercial acumen
- A proven ability to work alongside a range of key senior stakeholders in order to achieve business outcomes
- An ability to meet deadlines and work within a fast paced environment whilst balancing competing interests
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, with the ability to influence stakeholders across the organisation
