The Manager External Maintenance Operations will be accountable to the Manager External Maintenance, to ensure that Qantas Group base maintenance activities, are executed by approved external Part 145 providers, and will without exception meet the Qantas core values of Safety, Quality, and Compliance to ensure airworthiness for safe operations, with best commercial outcomes.

The Manager External Maintenance Operations will be the key point of contact, for all base maintenance activity whilst aircraft are in dock at subcontracted Aircraft Maintenance Organisations in offshore locations.

The position will look after project management teams whilst oversighting the aircraft maintenance activity. Close relationships with the offshore team and external stakeholders will ensure the smooth running of global maintenance activity. This will require a balance of managing the Qantas Engineering team to ensure the External Suppliers meet the needs of Group Airline, by developing a customer centric and commercially focused approach, to drive the best outcomes for offshore activities.

The Manager External Maintenance Operations will guide the offshore team to drive the External Part 145 provider to invest significant effort toward continuous improvement in Safety, Quality, Compliance, Operational and Commercial performance for the best interest for the Qantas Group. The Manager External Maintenance Operations will also hold the External Part 145 provider to account for contractual KPI’s and will collate information and coordinate a quarterly review with all suppliers to ensure KPIs are being met and to identify and arrest any quality concerns and or trends, to ensure the delivery of an airworthy product.

You’ll have:
- Minimum 15+ years airline experience, with a strong understanding of airline operations, maintenance / compliance and commercial framework- Strong stakeholder management across all levels of management with strong ability to lead in a fluid environment and meet objectives with good understanding of cultural etiquette.- Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance frameworks for airworthiness and aircraft maintenance.- Ability to influence/drive third-party suppliers and internal stakeholders to deliver on QE requirements.- Strong ability to drive a team and provide strong leadership- Strong ability to create and present a concept and deliver into tangible benefits- Strong project management skills.- Strong understanding of aircraft Line and Base Maintenance operations.- Ability to make relationships to reach end goal.- Strong understanding of aircraft planning processes.- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.- Creative and flexible problem solving.- Strong communication and negotiation skills.- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.- Strong ability to deliver under pressure and manage time as needed.- Strong ability to work alone or build a team from selected areas to achieve objectives.- Astute knowledge of aircraft maintenance contract development and execution.
