- Job Description SummaryService Stream is seeking an experienced and driven Procurement Specialist to join our high-performing team in Melbourne. As a Procurement Specialist, you’ll support procurement activities across the full life cycle -planning, sourcing, contract award, contract execution and management. You will bring expert-level knowledge to help mitigate procurement risk, ensure compliance with internal governance and head contract requirements, and add value through strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management.
This role works closely with project delivery and tender teams, along with other key stakeholders, to drive robust procurement outcomes and implement effective category management strategies. Occasional interstate travel and time spent on project sites may be required, helping to identify supplier networks and support major client initiatives.

Key responsibilities
The role may require periods of agreed assignment on project sites, to establish procurement management for
strategic clients and critical pieces of work, as well as travel to other states to identify supplier networks and design,
create and implement procurement strategies for new opportunities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead end-to-end supplier and subcontractor procurement (RFx) activities
- Develop and implement strategic procurement and category management plans
- Create and manage RFx documentation in collaboration with bid and project teams
- Benchmark suppliers, conduct spend and market analysis, and present insights
- Negotiate and execute risk-balanced, commercially sound subcontract agreements
- Provide procurement guidance and governance across the business
- Support tender and operational teams by drafting and managing contracts
- Drive supplier performance and continuous improvement
- Contribute to the development of a Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) framework
- Ensure procurement consistency and best-for-business outcomes
Experience required
- Proven experience managing sourcing processes (RFQ, RFP, RFx)
- Direct procurement experience in categories such as subcontractors and materials
- Strong background in complex subcontracting environments
- Experience in water, power, gas, power generation, engineering, oil and gas or mining sectors
- Solid understanding of contract negotiation and subcontractor management
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline preferred
Skills & Competencies
- Strong commercial negotiation and contract execution skills
- Proficient in Excel (including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables) and analytical tools
- Strategic thinker with a problem-solving mindset
- Adaptable, collaborative, and proactive with a positive, can-do attitude
- Comfortable working across different levels of procurement maturity
