Overview:
**About the Role**

Reporting directly into the Safety, Quality & Sustainability Manager, Oceania, the primary focus for the Safety Officer will be to achieve Safety goals for Logistics Services Australia ensuring that Safety is at the forefront of everything we do & lead the cultural change towards the Safety 1st approach providing guidance and framework for compliance matters with the key stakeholders.

**Job Description**:
**Responsibilities include**:

- Develop and execute health and safety plans according to internal and external policies and guidelines.
- Prepare and implement policies to establish a culture of Safety 1st culture.
- Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and ensure Wallenius Wilhelmsen is fully compliant with relevant Act’s and state regulations.
- Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters, and accident prevention.
- Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting/ auditing employees and operations across designated sites
- Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes, and support in handling of employee’s compensation claims when relevant
- Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures
- Report on health and safety awareness, issues, and statistics

Job Requirements:
**Skills and Experience**:

- Preferred experience in a blue collar & union environment utilizing integrated management systems.
- Demonstrated background in developing documentation, policies, procedures, SoP’s & Training material.
- Able to lead and build confidence with internal stakeholders.
- Excellent knowledge of legislation and procedures
- Experience with writing policies and procedures for health and safety
- Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
- Experience if delivering on-site/ field training to all levels of the company.
