**About the opportunity**
The Community Capability Officer will support the delivery of the Regional Flood Risk Awareness Project. The project aims to increase the community’s flood risk awareness and support building resilience to future flood events across the Northern Rivers. A key focus of the project is to ensure that communities can make informed choices with accessible and timely flood risk information.
You will facilitate the delivery of community engagement strategies that:
- increase community access to accurate, accessible place-based flood risk information
- increase regional community preparedness and flood readiness
- increase ability of communities most at risk from floods to be better prepared to respond to future floods
You will also measure and evaluate the effectiveness of programs to ensure they are current and contain flexibility.
Key challenges of the role are communicating and collaborating effectively with volunteers, community members and diverse stakeholders to achieve outcomes.

**About you**
To be successful in this role you will:
- Be proficient in building and maintaining relationships, communicating with a wide range of external and internal partners, and bringing together diverse stakeholders to work on a common goal
- Have experience in the development and implementation of innovative community programs
- Be a confident and clear communicator within public information, risk awareness and deeper community engagement campaigns
- Be willing to travel throughout Northern NSW to promote and support the delivery of community programs
- Be a self-driven, motivated achiever who can work with people from a diverse range of backgrounds with varying levels of education and work experience.
