**As our Principal Investigator you will**:
- Lead major and complex investigations of serious non-compliance or offences under the Animal Management (Cats & Dogs) Act 2008 administered by Biosecurity Queensland.
- Manage, lead and mentor Senior Investigators to enhance premium investigations capability within Biosecurity Queensland.
- Manage work allocations of the investigations caseload across the team to ensure required standards and timelines are met.
- Represent Biosecurity Queensland in court and tribunal proceedings, including overseeing brief preparation and briefing internal legal officers and external Counsel.
- Build and maintain productive relationships, networks and partnerships with key stakeholders and other regulatory agencies at local, state and national levels to advance current and future priorities.
- Enhance and support Biosecurity Queensland's investigative and compliance capability overseeing the development of training programs that access appropriate content and educational expertise.
- Undertake tasks as a designated officer appointed to exercise statutory powers under the relevant legislation.
- Foster an environment that values individual and team performance and continuous improvement and work to ensure that practices are consistent with corporate policy, contemporary 'best practice' and quality requirements.
- Model professional and ethical behaviour to achieve and encourage best practice in investigations and regulation and to enhance Biosecurity Queensland's reputation.
- Negotiate and work collaboratively with relevant managers to manage workflows between the investigation's unit and relevant programs within Biosecurity Queensland.
- Provide support to emergency disease and pest management responses, including the use of legislative and other regulatory tools.
- Out of hours and weekend work may be required.
**What you will bring**:
- Be prepared to travel intrastate and work outside normal business hours to undertake duties associated with the role.
- A current 'C' class driver's licence.
**You may also have**:
- A Certificate IV in Government Investigations, Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Justice or similar qualification would be highly regarded.
- It is desirable to have previous experience in investigation management, investigations, brief management and providing oral evidence in court.
