Our client is a long-standing member in the insurance field in the Australian Market, they operate in niche and specialist classes of business insurance. Primarily operating within Australia and New Zealand they deliver innovative insurance solutions to the business community through its diversified growing number of insurance lines. A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join a growing and successful organisation in the next phase of their expansion.

**About the Role**

Reporting to the CEO you will help to drive the company's financial strategy while maintaining a hands-on approach in the day-to-day financial operations. The business remains on a clear growth trajectory and the CFO will help to solidify new relationships, drive measurable value and strengthen financial and management reporting, budgeting and the analytics behind decision making.

This role works closely with the CEO and Management team with a mix of strategic and hands-on activities whilst managing a small finance team. Additionally, the CFO will provide support and advice to the Board/Sub-Committees as a trusted advisor.
- Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:_
- Development and implementation of a robust financial strategy, with complementary plans and forecasts that aligns with the organisation's vision and strategic objectives.
- Assess organisational performance against both the budget or forecast and the enterprise strategy.
- Ensure appropriate tools and systems are in place to provide critical financial and operational information to the CEO and the Board; Interpret analyse and present financial and commercial information to the Executive Management team and Board and make recommendations as required.
- Oversee long term budgetary planning and costs management in alignment with business strategy.
- Lead the development and implementation of strategic initiatives to enhance financial performance, efficiency and other business improvement opportunities.
- Actively participate as a member of the Management Team and advisor to the Board. Participate in key decisions pertaining to strategic initiatives, operating model and operational execution.
- Lead and manage a diverse team of financial and commercial professionals, encouraging an inclusive and accountable culture.
- Support compliance and best practice across the business and continually review existing policy, process and procedures in a drive towards best practice financial management
- Where primary finance related workload permits, work in coordination with the CRO to drive change projects in the internal control and risk management frameworks
- Seek to identify and resolve client service-related financial problems and issues and to continually improve systems and procedures
- Proactively respond to shareholder information requests
- To participate in and in some cases lead finance and business development projects such as due diligence, product cost analysis and capital management initiatives.

**About You**
- CA or CPA qualified
- At least ten (10) years’ relevant working experience in an insurance or related environment
- Demonstrated accounting, statutory, tax reporting management experience and skills, preferably with knowledge on preparation of insurance regulatory returns, budgets, management, and board reports
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of projects from initial ideation through to finalising implementation, including the coordination of resources, deliverables and up to Board level reporting
- A proven track record of building and leading high-performing finance teams
- A great cultural fit with excellent leadership skills with a track record of empowering teams
- Strong negotiation, relationship building and influencing skills; and
- Great communication skills and the ability to boil down and communicate complex ideas in a simple manner.
- You will enact a flexible and adaptable working style and be a self-starter with a high level of resilience, strong initiative, quality service mindset and a continuous improvement focus; results driven with an ability to overcome barriers, finding solutions to problems with an action-oriented mindset.
