- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate with a wide range of individuals including staff, parents and the wider community.
- Ability to take direction and to work as part of a team

**Role**:
This position reports to the English as an Additional Language (EAL) coordinator, and assists the International Students Program (ISP) coordinator.

The Aide is required to:

- Demonstrate proficiency in communication in English and Vietnamese
- Provide friendly and helpful assistance to students, parents, staff and visitors to the college
- Prioritise and manage work demands
- Communicate effectively with a range of people
- Work as part of the EAL and ISP teams to ensure tasks are completed in a timely and professional manner

**Responsibilities**:

- Support students in the classroom, explain teacher instructions and work requirements
- Assist students on an individual or group basis with building language acquisition and literacy skills
- Support teachers general communication with students
- Communicate directly with families and support teachers and student welfare coordinators to communicate with families, and link the families with services
- Assist students and their families with transition from one educational setting to another, for example, gather enrolment information
- Translate basic school notices and communications to the local community
- Act as a resource to develop staff knowledge of the students¿ backgrounds and the issues they face
- Help to involve parents in school activities and programs
- Assist in the preparation of student resources and equipment
- Participate in EAL and ISP team meetings as required, and ES staff meetings
- Perform other duties appropriate to the classification to assist in the effective delivery of services

**Other Information**:

- 5 days, 8.55am to 3.05pm - negotiable (includes
- hour unpaid lunch break)
- Time will be allocated to supporting English as an Additional Language (EAL) students, and providing support to the International Student Program as required
- Generally this position is not required to attend during school holidays. If attendance is required (up to 6 days total) then those hours are paid at one and three quarters rate.
