**Selection Criteria**:
SC1 Demonstrated capacity to support in planning and implementing programs for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, particularly those displaying challenging behaviour.
SC2 Capacity to work cooperatively with a range of people including students, leadership, teachers and education support staff.
SC3 Capacity to undertake classroom and student support tasks across a range of functions in within a Special Education environment.
SC4 A commitment to professional learning and growth.
SC5 Demonstrated understanding of Child Safe practices, when working with children, including those with a disability.
**Role**:
This role involves supporting the classroom teacher in planning and implementing an individualised educational program for student/s with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other disabilities. Additional support is provided by teachers, Educational Support staff and the school leadership team.
**Responsibilities**:
Duties may include:
- Assisting students on an individual or group basis in specific learning areas.
- Assist with the communication between students and teachers, particularly the interpretation of instructions.
- Provide basic physical and emotional care for students.
- Participate in team meetings.
- Assist with toileting, meals, lifting, and administration of medication to students requiring special care.
- Assist with the supervision of pupils in playgrounds, at camps, on excursions, in sporting activities, therapy activities and life skills.
- Assist in the preparation of student resources and equipment.
- Prepare curriculum support resources.
- Set up and put away equipment and materials in support of teaching programs.
- Observe students and draw the attention of the teacher to them where necessary.
- Participate in the monitoring and evaluation of programs and evaluation of individual student involvement and achievement.

**Location Profile**:
**Dharra School is a new P-12 specialist school that opened in term 1 2024, in Aintree.**
**The school has been built to accommodate 148 students. There are currently 115 students attending Dharra School, and the school is under an employment management plan set by the department, to support rapid student growth and staffing shortages. The school has a strong focus on staff wellbeing and ensuring our staff have time away from class to focus on their administrative duties.**
**Teachers and Educational Support staff make extensive use of a wide variety of resources to ensure all students have an educational journey that is positive and successful. Our school's philosophy and programs are based upon the belief that children learn best in a structured environment that is safe, challenging and supportive with a school-wide focus on Positive Behaviour Support.**
**Student Support Group meetings involving staff, parents, carers and our Allied Health team are held four times a year to formulate individual learning goals based on each student's ability, strengths and needs and celebrate achievements towards these goals.**
**As the school ages in years, our programs grow and develop, with the implementation of the Victorian Pathways Certificate in 2025.**
