Full Time Dairy Cattle Farmer
SALARY RANGE $90,000 - $100,000 + SUPERANNUATION
Responsibilities Summary
The position provides for the coordination of operations on the dairy farm, supervision of the day
- To
- Day care of the cattle, overseeing the maintenance and management of the farm and its equipment and machinery, veterinary treatment as required, feed and paddock management. The position will also be overseeing the sales activities and some money management for the sale of dairy produce.
Main Duties:
1. Monitoring milk pumps and dairy equipment for quality and lack of contamination,
2. Ensure property and farm management including fences and water supplies
3. Ensuring paddocks are adequately rotated and attended
4. Coordinate regular maintenance of equipment, to ensure all equipment is in working order and
Organise repairs / replacements as required
5. Monitor and adjust feed for cattle according to individual needs and seasons
6. Oversee maintenance of farm including sterilising machines, drenching, catching, and irrigation
Management.
7. Oversight for feed lots
8. Animal welfare maintenance and monitoring of nutrition feeds
9. Documenting and monitoring cattle and numbers, milk produce and milking records
10 Organisation and rostering of staff and supervise labourer
11. Manage daily expenses, record keeping and maintaining cash flow
12. Oversee the sales and transportation of dairy produce
REQUIRED SKILLS
Qualification: The applicant must have a suitable qualification or ongoing employment experience
Working in the dairy cattle industry, ideally in a dairy farm environment.
Experience: Employment experience of several years in a dairy cattle farm or similar environment.
Essential skills: Must be able to handle and understand how to care for dairy cattle including animal
Welfare and development.
