But what sets us apart is why those things matter and how you’ll achieve them.
**Why?** Griffith brings together exceptional minds like yours from across the globe and from all walks of life. Here, we do incredible work, questioning and challenging, always in the pursuit of excellence.
The Australian Rivers Institute (ARI) was formed in 2006 and is one of Australia's largest university aquatic ecosystem research groups with globally recognised expertise in river, catchment and coastal ecosystems and the interaction with these systems in society.
The International WaterCentre (IWC) was founded in 2005, with the vision of harnessing the diverse expertise of leading water professionals and academics from Australia and internationally to educate and empower individuals, communities and organisations, to build capacity to respond to water challenges in innovative ways. IWC's main areas of activities are Applied Research, Education, Engagement and Training. Since our inception, we have grown to become a significant contributor to knowledge generation and capacity development in the global water sector and an important feature of the Australian 'water landscape'. We play a role in stimulating and brokering relationships between Australian and international academics, researchers and practitioners, to collectively strengthen integrated water management approaches. This role in brokering collaborations allows us to lead and participate in teams that are larger than we are, and is central to the high level of our productivity and performance. We undertake research to national and international standards, achieving the highest quality outcomes. We aggregate research activities, attract external funding exceeding national averages, and actively partner with industry, government, and the broader scientific community to meet the challenge of balancing humanity's growth whilst maintaining functional ecosystems and associated services.
We support high-quality research training for Higher Degree Research students and provide a supportive and productive research environment, including mentoring for early career researchers.
