**The Role**
We have an opportunity for a Procurement Category Specialist to join the Strategic Procurement team based at Rydalmere. Your role will be to support the Operations and Supply Chain teams with tendering materials and services and capital equipment. Your duties will include the following:
- Analyse assigned procurement categories
- Research the supply market
- Support other members of the Strategic Procurement team on major projects
- Work with stakeholders to develop a strategy for each category
- Negotiate supply and support stakeholders in managing purchases and vendors
- Source and negotiate supply terms for capital expenditure purchases
- Identify and deliver agreed target savings each year across the assigned category/vendor portfolio over a 3-year cycle and capital purchases
- Work closely with Rheem Australia, New Zealand and Vietnam and liaise with Rheem Global Procurement on common category procurement projects and capital purchases
- Leverage global Procurement Commodity projects where appropriate to achieve savings targets on global commodities.
This is a true procurement role and not a process or tactical role.
**About you**
To be successful in this role, it is essential you have:
- A Degree in Business/Engineering/Supply Chain or similar.
- Experience in a purchasing and/or procurement position, in a manufacturing, engineering or logistics environment. Someone either early in their procurement career or in an adjacent role and with the passion and capability to make the transition.
- An analytical mind with a strong attention to detail
- A strong desire for a long-term career in Procurement
In addition, it would be ideal if you have:
- Ability to collaborate across departments and engage with various stakeholders
- Strong written and verbal communication with critical thinking.
- High level of self-motivation, time management, and organisational ability.
- SAP experience, strong Excel skills and skills in other Microsoft 365 suite products.
Highly regarded would be
- Experience with negotiating, tendering and contracting
- CIPS or APICS qualifications
- Prior procurement experience
