Ashurst's Global BD team is located in major cities across EMEA, Asia Pacific and the US. We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic, proactive and committed Business Development (BD) professional to join our global BD&M team, based in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane on a permanent full time basis reporting to the Senior BD Manager, Strategic Advisory, based in Sydney.
There is enormous scope for this role to be transformative, changing the way the team think about and approach BD. It's also an exciting time to join Ashurst, we're investing in the BD function at a global level which means there's the opportunity for you to get involved in new firm-wide projects.
The BDE works in conjunction with the Strategic Advisory BD team and the respective Australia partners to develop and execute BD, marketing, and innovation initiatives relating to the Division's strategy as well as key opportunities and major clients.

**About You**:
As this role is national in focus it requires a proactive approach and self-starter attitude. You will have a 'can-do' attitude and be willing to work as part of a team doing everything from simple admin tasks to complex strategy. You will be supported by highly experienced BD professionals who will guide you on best practice and assist with your career development.
- Tertiary qualification in business or related relevant field.
- An understanding of legal practices, products and the legal competitive landscape.
- Positive and proactive attitude toward work and a desire to learn and develop your role and skillset.
- Ability to build rapport and develop positive working relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
- Self-starter who will identify, take accountability for, and follow through on potential opportunities and initiatives.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple projects and activities.
- Ability to work autonomously when required as well as ability to work within a team and take direction from others.
- Previous experience in a professional services BD environment (1-3+ years' experience).
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
- Ability to switch between detail and the bigger picture
