**About the role**

We are looking for an **Advisor Environmental Approvals** to play a key role in supporting the Environmental Approvals team to obtain approvals and provide advice on obligations under key State and Commonwealth environmental legislation. Working across the Rio Tinto Iron Ore business unit, made up of 16 integrated mining operations, you will have the opportunity to support brownfield and greenfield growth strategies through soliciting key approvals.

Reporting to the Superintendent Environmental Approvals, you will:

- Provide support for environmental impact assessments and obtaining environmental approvals under Part IV of the _Environmental Protection Act 1986_and the _Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999_.
- Support the commissioning of environmental surveys and other studies required to progress environmental approvals.
- Participate in project specific studies and provide relevant approvals advice and inputs.
- Work with a close-knit team who are collaborative and supportive and emulate the Rio Tinto values

**What you’ll bring**

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

- A Tertiary qualification in an environmental discipline or a related field
- The skills to communicate and consult effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent technical writing skills, attention to detail and an ability to interpret and problem solve complex issues
- The ability to work in a team environment

It will also be beneficial if you have:

- Previous exposure to WA State and Commonwealth environmental legislation.
- Experience in the development of environmental impact assessments and environmental management plans.

**Where you’ll be working**

Perth based but with a working focus on supporting operations in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
