**About the Role**:
Reporting to the Environmental Approvals General Manager, the Lead Environmental Approvals Advisor represents Santos as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for regulatory Environmental Approvals for the Santos Upstream Division. This is a corporate office base position (Perth, Darwin, Brisbane or Adelaide) with visits to operational sites and regional locations on an ad hoc basis.

**Accountabilities are delivered in line with the Santos company values and Santos Management System (SMS). Key responsibilities of the role include**:

- Focal point and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for regulatory Environmental Approvals.
- Develop and deliver Environmental Approval strategies.
- Identify, engage, and manage external service provides during the preparation of environmental approval documentation and supporting studies.
- Maintain quality control over all Environmental Approval documents and supporting studies.
- Coordinate environmental impact and risk assessments including management of change processes.
- Define and maintain Environmental Approval plans, schedules, and risk registers.
- Identify and consult with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators.
- Collaborate with company operating, project and functional teams.
- Uphold and ensure compliance with company management system standards and procedures.
- Understand government regulations and guidelines, and industry standards.
- Ensure all forms of document and data management are reviewed, stored and accessible in accordance with company Information Management requirements.
- Coordinates handover from Environmental Approvals to Compliance teams.
- Influencing respective teams to deliver outcomes.

**About You**:

- Tertiary level qualifications in Environmental Science/Engineering/Law or relevant fields.
- Experienced in hydrocarbon, resource extraction, major infrastructure, power, or renewable fields.
- Experienced with the regulatory regime in Australia with respect to Environmental Approvals preferably under the OPGGS Act-NOPSEMA regime, Environmental Protection acts, and/or EPBC Act.
- Experience in stakeholder consultation including First Nations People consultation and external Environmental service providers.
- Strategically minded with competent and proactive problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present issues in a clear and concise manner.
