The University of Adelaide’s Australian Institute for Machine Learning (AIML) is Australia’s leading research institute in machine learning, artificial intelligence (AI) and computer vision. The Centre for Augmented Reasoning (CAR) is a $20 million investment by the Department of Education in people and research to make computers better at interacting with humans, so that all technology is easier and safer to use. Managed under AIML, the centre is supporting advanced reasoning research through grants and PhD scholarships, facilitating innovation and rapid commercialisation, and increasing AI literacy and engagement in Australia.

**The CAR Program Manager will lead a small team of professional staff to manage the centre’s administrative activities and support its research community. They will assist the CAR Director in amplifying the visibility of Australia’s AI research with delivery of the centre’s milestones, planning and implementation of the centre’s six programs, and development and implementation of plans and projects. Under the broad direction of the CAR Director and AIML Operations Manager they will lead an ambitious national campaign to increase public perception about the future of AI in Australia.**

**To be successful you will need**:

- Significant experience working in a research management role in a scientific organisation
- Excellent communication, report writing, interpersonal, team and networking skills
- Excellent planning and organisational skills, in managing and executing multiple outputs and deliverables, with an ability to set priorities and meet deadlines to ensure completion
- Demonstrated completer finisher capability and drive

**Desired skills**
- Demonstrated experience influencing decision makers through stakeholder engagement
- Working knowledge of establishing an innovation ecosystem or technology commercialisation program
- Working knowledge of Australia’s science policy and research funding landscape
