**What You Will Be Doing**

The Mornington Adult Community Mental Health and Intensive Treatment Teams provide community care for people aged 26-64 years who experience mental health challenges or distress and require holistic treatment and wellbeing supports.

The Consumer Peer Worker role has been developed specifically for people with a personal experience of mental health challenges and recovery to provide holistic support to people accessing community mental health services and supports. Peer Workers are empathetic listeners who promote hope, choice and connection in their relationships with others.

Peer Workers work closely with clinical, allied health and other peer work staff. As key members of the multi-disciplinary treatment team, Peer Workers share their lived/living experience and expertise to ensure care is consumer-led, recovery-oriented and trauma-informed.

Peer Workers employed at Peninsula Health receive professional support, training and supervision to assist them in their role.

**What You Need**

We anticipate you will have:
Essential criteria:

- Personal experience of mental health challenges or distress and recovery
- Ability to share lived/living experience and expertise to ensure care is consumer-led, recovery-oriented and trauma-informed
- Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships (internally and externally)
- Commitment to own professional development

Desirable criteria:

- Experience as a Peer Worker within a mental health setting
- Completion of Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or similar qualification (or currently undertaking)
- Completion of Intentional Peer Support (or willingness to undertake
