Leongatha Primary School has a current enrolment of approximately 611 students. Forecast enrolment for 2025 is approximately 560 students. The forecast decline in enrolment is a result of less students commencing in prep. This is consistent across all Leongatha schools. The Student Family Occupation Index has changed from 0.4436 in 2019 to 0.4076 in 2024. The 2024 SFOE is 0.3666

In 2024 there are 28 Prep to Year 6 classes with four classes at each year level run by 36 equivalent full time staff. Classroom teachers are well supported by education support staff, the Principal and 2 Assistant Principals, Literacy, Numeracy and Well being specialists. Leongatha Primary school has an extensive specialist program including AUSLAN, STEM, Performing Arts, Physical Education and Visual Arts.

Leongatha Primary School teachers have a strong culture of collaboration, evident in their professional learning community (PLC) work and collective team planning with the use of data to enhance teaching and learning and ensuring consistency of curriculum delivery across year levels. Our current priority areas include a whole school structured literacy approach, quality maths instruction through open ended learning tasks and explicit teaching, along with Respectful Relationships Education and trauma informed student wellbeing practices. Literacy and numeracy intervention, along with student wellbeing support is also of high importance, creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all students, their families and staff at Leongatha Primary School.

Our beautiful setting includes a Performing Arts Centre, gymnasium, numerous playgrounds, multiple ovals, basketball and netball courts and scenic play spaces for students, teachers and community members to utilise. We are an integral part of the Leongatha Education Precinct. We collaborate particularly closely with Leongatha Secondary College ensuring a smooth transition from primary to Secondary school and the South Gippsland Specialist School.

An education support class position at this range will perform tasks that are carried out in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice, and school policy under supervision and direction. This may include coordination of other education support class staff within the work area or educational program.

An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students but must not include duties of a teacher as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the _Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic)_ or its successor. Supervision of students can be required individually or in groups up to 4 in controlled circumstances and where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.

Certification and/or qualifications of up to three years can be required at this level (noting that Registered Nurse is not included at this level, the first level for which is Level 1 range 3).

A role at this range may include:

- Specific support tasks to achieve outcomes. Typically, this will involve accountability for a single function, (e.g. ensuring data is properly maintained) or the co-ordination of a work area under the direction of the principal or a manager.
- Assisting teachers, within an educational program, by undertaking specific support tasks or the coordination of the support function.
- Supervised health and wellbeing support tasks, medical intervention support tasks, or other specialised student/teacher support roles (e.g. enrolled nurses performing the role as described
