About the role
This role is an experienced practitioner role and requires the occupant to operate with a level of independence against a specific set of rules or procedures set by the health service provider/s. This role may be required to provide second on-call (after hours) emergency services on a rotational basis.
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner will provide a range of clinical primary health care services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and communities including delivering specific health care programs, assessing and treating clients, maintaining health care systems and providing advice and support whilst under clinical supervision in order to contribute to better health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

About you
- Local cultural knowledge and exercise cultural respect and safety at the individual and family's levels.
- Ability to provide Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care practice to individuals and families while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.
- Ability to work to procedures and processes within a clinical setting and work with standards to achieve community results.
- Knowledge of the community and health information systems used in the clinic setting including tele-health and patient care systems, with attention to detail in recording data.
- Ability to follow through on well-established treatment regimens and protocols under the broader supervision of a senior practitioner.
- Effective communication methods within an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practice context.

**Mandatory Requirements**:

- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
- Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld) it is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Community.
- Holds current registration as an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner as recognised by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner Board of Australia (ATSIHPBA).
