Established in 1871, the Art Gallery of New South Wales is located in Sydney’s The Domain adjacent to the Royal Botanic Garden and near the Central Business District, the Gallery acknowledges the original custodians of this land - the Gadigal people of the Eora nation.

The Art Gallery attracts around 2 million visitors annually and runs Australia’s largest education program with over 90,000 student and teacher visits per year.

With our expanded campus the Art Gallery has a new state-of-the-art building located next to our existing and much-loved building. Providing us with close to double the exhibition space, the expanded Art Gallery enables us to share more art with more people and provide more family, learning and educational programming for all our audiences.

**About the role**

Obtaining and licensing images and other content, such as text, film and music, for Art Gallery uses across projects, products, media and platforms; and supporting the service to external clients for filming and photography at the Art Gallery as well as licensing of Art Gallery Intellectual Property.

**What technical / soft skills you require**

1. Demonstrated experience in rights and licensing for publications and/or exhibitions and/or digital or broadcast, and sound knowledge of copyright legislation.

2. Demonstrated experience with art collection (CMS), image (IMS) or similar database management systems.

3. High-level communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.

4. High-level of accuracy in data entry and using databases.

5. Highly organised and high-level record-keeping skills.

6. Sound ability with communication technologies and programs.

7. Knowledge of the visual arts.

8. Working knowledge of Indigenous Cultural Intellectual Property and best practice in respectful treatment of cultural material

**Targeted questions**

**1.** Identify the art collection management system/s (or similar) you have worked with and how you have set up or used pre-existing data entry guidelines to manage rights for artworks or other intellectual property? How have you used data from this system to generate insights to streamline or otherwise assist in day-to-day tasks or projects? (300 words maximum).

2. Describe a situation where you have played a key role in a complex image licensing project with limited information about sources, multiple stakeholders - in-house, nationally and internationally - and possibly within a short timeframe. What issues did you encounter? What strategies or systems did you use to organise your work? What was the outcome? (300 words maximum).

Part of the assessment process may include additional online capability testing, skills testing or work samples in accordance with the Government Sector Employment Act 2013, therefore you may be contacted to participate or provide these.
