**About Northern Beaches Hospital**
Operated by Healthscope, Northern Beaches Hospital (NBH) is located in Frenchs Forest, only 13kms north of Sydney CBD. The hospital is a contemporary 488 bed facility comprising of 60% public and 40% private beds. Providing a wide range of health services to the local community, including Surgery, a 50 bed Emergency Department, Intensive Care, Birthing, Paediatrics, Cardiac, Mental Health, Dialysis, Cancer Centre and Outpatients.
NBH has 13 operating theatres, one hybrid/cardiac catheter theatre, two Catheter Laboratories and four endoscopy procedure rooms, all supported by a critical care unit which includes two intensive care wards.

**About the Role**
An opportunity exists for a Clinical Documentation Specialist with strengths in developing strong working relationships, knowledge of clinical documentation standards and experience in clinical coding and funding models to work at Northern Beaches Hospital.
As a Clinical Documentation Specialist your responsibilities will include:
Continuously improving the overall quality, completeness, timeliness and accuracy of clinical documentation in medical records to support:

- The delivery of high quality patient care
- The clinical coding process
- Accreditation and adherence to quality standards
- Receipt of appropriate reimbursement revenues
- Conducting extensive audits of active/open medical records and monitor the quality, completeness and accuracy of clinical documentation
- Provide education to Medical, Nursing and Allied Health staff on documentation guidelines to support clinical coding, quality, accreditation, billing and patient care
- Lead clinical documentation performance improvement initiatives
- Improve the quality and timeliness of all clinical documentation including discharge summaries.

**Essential Criteria**:

- Bachelor of Nursing or Bachelor of Health Information Management or Clinical Documentation Specialist Certification
- Extensive knowledge in clinical documentation standards
- An in-depth knowledge of medical record documents and clinical documentation standards
- Strong broad-based clinical knowledge across multiple specialties
- Demonstrated understanding of clinical coding documentation requirements
- Sound knowledge of Private Health funding models
- Proven experience in accreditation, standards and quality frameworks
- Competency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel and Word).

**Desirable Criteria**:
Certificate IV Training and Assessment
Postgraduate management studies
Experience with Private Sector Funding & Reporting Models.
