Alexandria, Australia SKUTOPIA Full time

Company Description

SKUTOPIA is a fast-growing Australian startup - we’re building an innovative, efficient, clean and light eCommerce fulfillment ecosystem that powers the booming eCommerce industry. Our products include a cloud-based Shipping Platform (SaaS), Urban Robotic Micro-Fulfillment Centers, Last Mile Delivery platform enabling same day, next day and express delivery and our eCommerce coworking hubs - Workit Spaces. We’re a team that’s driven to create innovative products, a sustainable planet, and a sustainable society.

What We’re Looking For

As a Product Designer for SKUTOPIA, you’ll work from concept through to production to help make sure that we are going to absolutely delight our customers, add value to the business and uplift our design practice.

**Responsibilities**:
You'll be responsible for the full UX/UI design process where we are designing for a broad range of devices and platforms so you can expect to be doing things like:

- Conducting user and market research into user personas, journeys and user flows
- Turning concepts into wireframes, mockups and prototypes that deliver exceptional user experiences, solving long standing problems in new and unique ways
- Running solution validation and usability testing to inform design iterations and improvements
- Collaborating meaningfully with your squad through discovery and delivery

To be successful, we think you’ll need some experience under your belt, and experience using Figma (or similar interface design tools). Experience with Design Systems, within startups or in shipping/logistics/eCommerce would be brilliant, but if you think what we’re doing sounds interesting, we encourage you to get in touch for a chat.

And Here Are Some Reasons We Think You Might Want To Join Us

We think this is a pretty great role (but we are a little bit biased).
- You are keen to build things the right way, taking a fresh look at problems and not being constrained by “this is how it’s been done before”
- You really want to work closely with customers. We’re doing lots of user testing and interviews and believe that the research piece is non-negotiable.
- You’re looking for a role where you’ve got a good balance between support and autonomy, and will get useful feedback on your work.
- You enjoy being part of collaborative teams - there’s no developer/designer split here, and we want it to stay that way
- You want to help develop other Product designers and build amazing UX capabilities within SKUTOPIA.

How We Work

We are fans of Marty Cagan and 100% believe in empowered product teams. Our initiatives have a discovery and delivery phase, and the triad (Product Manager, Product Designer and Engineering) work closely through these phases. We have a weekly design sparring session, a place where the designers come to collaborate, bounce ideas off each other, seek and give feedback.

Most of the team work from home, and we trust you to manage your time. We are very collaborative and communicative though, so if you need help, or can help someone else, then we expect you to reach out. As a number of our users are at WorkItSpaces, the Product and Design team are encouraged to come into the office once a week.

We keep track of what’s happening with Linear and Confluence, use Slack and Google Meet to stay in touch, and try to limit unnecessary meetings.

We have a monthly all hands business update, and make sure we find opportunities to call out great work, and celebrate our wins.

Recruitment process

If you don’t have a CV to hand, a link to your LinkedIn profile or other online presence (e,g. portfolio) is absolutely fine.

You’ll have a quick chat with a recruiter, followed by an interview that discusses your portfolio, skills and experience as they relate to the role, and then a final interview that is more about how you work, and our values. It’s a two-way process though, so we’ll take the time to tell you more about the role and team, and answer all your questions, and schedule additional chats if necessary.
