Senior UX Designer

About BrevilleOver the past 90+ years Breville has grown to become an iconic global brand, delivering kitchen products to over 70 countries around the globe. Breville enhances people's lives through the delivery of brilliant innovation and thoughtful design based on deep consumer insights, empowering people to do things more impressively or easily than they'd thought possible in their own home and ultimately allowing them to "Master Every Moment".

A career at Breville is truly a one-of-a-kind experience. It's more than working for a global leader; it's an opportunity to be a part of something that impacts people all over the world.

About the role

As a Senior UX Designer on the Breville Global Solutions team you'll be working on solving problems that can help everyone in the kitchen cook smarter. You'll work on connected experiences that seamlessly blend appliances, apps, and content in a domain that is wide open for innovation. You'll collaborate with a diverse group of experts from many backgrounds, from Michelin-starred chefs and barista champions to mathematicians and engineers. Your design could be on the next Breville Espresso Machine or a best-selling cooking appliance used worldwide

What you'll do

  • Work independently within product teams, designing user interfaces for digital and physical products while providing clear rationale for your design decisions.
  • Operate within a test-driven design process, collaborating with usability researchers and fellow designers to ensure our products solve real customer problems, delight users, and succeed in the marketplace.
  • Partner with product management teams on features and schedules, hardware engineers on physical requirements, cooking and coffee experts on getting great food results, and software engineers to create pixel-perfect, bug-free experiences.
  • Manage multiple projects at different stages of development, from conceptualizing new products to refining existing ones based on customer feedback and feature requests.
  • Work with an international design team to support the team's growth and development while also learning from each other through giving and receiving feedback and critique.
  • Contribute to the Breville Design System, by designing new components, refining existing patterns, and implementing established standards, to ensure consistency, quality, and efficiency across our entire product line.
  • Craft stunning visual designs that support and extends Breville's award-winning premium brand.
  • Build and prototype your designs using industry-standard software.

What you'll need

  • 4-5 years of professional design experience. More than just years, we value the work you've done and how you've done it.
  • Deep expertise in all facets of human-centered design and user experience, including UX strategy, interaction design, user research, prototyping, visual design, and user adoption.
  • Strong ability to communicate conceptual ideas, design details, and rationale both verbally and visually.
  • Experience in product development, driving design from planning to release.
  • Proven experience designing interfaces for physical products and apps across different platforms.
  • Track record of successful collaboration with developers, applying an iterative approach to improve digital products at every stage.
  • Demonstrated visual design skill, especially in the construction of visual hierarchies on layouts, and attention to detail on typography, spacing, and colors.
  • On top of the latest digital trends and process methodologies.
  • Comfort with common front-end / UX technologies with a desire to learn more.
  • Proficiency with Figma and prototyping tools like Protopie is a plus.

In a nutshell

As a Senior UX Designer at Breville, you'll be a well-rounded Product Designer working at the intersection of Visual Design, UI, and Interaction Design. If you're ready to craft delightful kitchen experiences, we'd love to hear from you
