**Job description**

Shop for Shops is Australia’s leading retailer of shop fittings, shelving and display solutions. We manufacture and supply an enormous range of high quality products and customised solutions. We proudly design all our products in Australia and work closely with our overseas office to have them sourced and manufactured from trusted and long term manufacturers.

Working in collaboration with our design team, directorship and marketing team, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design, administration and commercialisation of new product ideas and improvements. You will be intimately involved in the design and specification of new products including the manufacturability of an item. You will work closely with our Head of Design and Directors to ensure all facets of a products lifecycle is closely administered and tracked through our sampling and production process.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Design Concepts**
- Determine customer requirements by consulting directly or with sales representatives
- Research latest trends in Shop fittings and produce concepts, plans and sketches.
- Developing prototypes locally to then take to overseas mass production.

**Product & Design Meetings**

Your main focus will be to lead and administer our Product Design and Development team that meets once a week and includes but not limited to the following tasks:

- Create and disseminate meeting content to all participants;
- Present your plans, sketches and designs;
- Schedule meetings and keep them focused and on time;
- Create all post meeting content including administering minutes and action items

**Feedback & Improvements**
- Another key task will be to maintain a comprehensive log of all feedback relating to our products.
- These are called Opportunities for Improvement (OFIs) and they can relate to any dimension of a product.
- Incorporate feedback into new or updated product designs

**Supplier Management**

You will be required to attend up to four (4) overseas trips per year. Each trip is approximately 10 days. In collaboration with our product design team, which includes closely working with our Shanghai office you will:

- Create trip agendas for each supplier;
- Administer and conduct meetings with each supplier;
- Present and discuss new designs and concepts to the manufacturer;
- Working collaboratively with our manufacturers on materials, production methods and other key inputs to the production process.
- Produce all post meeting content and action items;
Before each trip you may be required to perform research on new suppliers with a view to arranging meetings with them on one of the trips

**A Product Champion**

You will also be required to provide assistance, expertise and advice to our sales team with technical information about:

- Product design and materials;
- Supplier social and environmental credentials - such as SEDEX, BSCI or equivalent;
- Fire ratings for selected products;
- And all other questions about product functionality, manufacture and supply;
- Be the manager of our product Masterfile and manage all changes.

Therefore you will need to be very familiar with our entire range and a key person to help train our sales teams when they have questions.

**Skills and Experience**
- Industrial Design Degree
- High attention to detail and very organised
- Very high intellect
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong relationship building skills
- Be hands on and not afraid to physically set up samples and testing kits
- Ability to work in a team environment and work with multiple key departments
- Ability to use initiative and think outside the box
- An analytical and technical approach
- Effective time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks
- Strong computer skills with intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) expertise
- Prior knowledge of an ERP system will be advantageous.

Pay: Up to $110,000.00 per year

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
