What the role is all about
The Head of Market Research and Insights will lead an established team of 5 talented and passionate Market Research professionals. Their overarching mission is to develop an evidence base that informs better decision making.
Sitting within the Customer Marketing team, they have established themselves as ‘business partners’ meaning they service the needs of the entire business. This requires the generation and communication of insights on Consumers (site and app visitors) and Customers (real estate agents) across the core business units in order to provide strategic recommendations to inform product development, sales, and marketing.
What you’ll be doing
Your role will be to combine team leadership & development, strategic oversight and willingness to get your hands dirty to deliver a wide-ranging series of insight for the business.
While roughly two thirds of the research agenda is set (through continuous research programs) the central challenge is to determine how best to use the remaining team resource most effectively across the numerous business areas.
There are a number of priority areas this role will be accountable for delivering. This includes but is not limited to:
- Strategic discovery and diagnostic research: Research that understanding new markets, new-to-market products, and key opportunities for REA Group- Customer Sentiment Monitor: Lead the annual Customer Sentiment Monitor program across our 5 key markets that both monitor performance and evidence strategic business decision making-
- CX Program (new to REA Group): Work with GM Customer Marketing to shape the thinking and implementation of a new CX Insights Program starting with small scale experimentation to eventual role out of a business wide monitoring program- Thought leadership: Finding time to deliver best in class insights to across the business and selected external events for key market - Residential, Developer, Commercial and Media.- ELT/CEO: Provide key data and insights as requested- Craft development: Contribute to the development of a strong, innovative research practice across REA
You will also work across:
- Sales strategy & Customer Marketing: Insights to enable the sales team to build relationships with customers and demonstrate the value proposition of REA. Insights may be used in sales collateral, at external conferences/seminars, at internal presentations or on a more ad hoc basis in response to market dynamics
What we’re looking for- Significant experience in a strategic research/insight role. Ideally straddling both agency and client-side roles.- Experience hiring and leading researchers, research managers and research teams, guiding their craft, management capabilities and career development.- Proven experience delivering strategic product centric research to inform go, no-go decision and product optimisation- Prior experience engaging stakeholders in large-scale internal programs - delivering ‘more than just the numbers’.- Experience consolidating organisational insight - packaging it up and educating the business- Telling a great story from the insights that inspires, excites and help make decisions.- Ability to see the ‘so what’ for the business and the confidence to express this- Ability to scrutinize agency outputs, confidently and respectfully challenge their conclusions where they may not align with your own- Not scared to do things differently - not bound by convention- Able to multi-task, think on the spot, move fast, and change direction based on evolving priorities- Knowledge of statistical analysis and predictive analytics methods and tools (e.g., Significance Testing, Regression)- Connecting the dots both where existing research can add value to new questions or identification of opportunities to use research new research to solve multiple challenges.- High degree of initiative - a proactive team player- Excellent verbal and written communication skills- Keen to continue learning and developing - takes a proactive role in own career development, while also being open and receptive to constructive feedback and direction
