**About the position**

The Collections Officer will work as part of the team at the Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre. The role will manage accessioning, documentation, storage, and the display of art objects, ensuring best practices. Responsibilities will include safe handling, transport, valuation updates, conservation liaison, database maintenance, exhibition support, research, and written content development.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Manage accessioning, documentation, display, and storage using best practice
- Safely handle, transport, and oversee storage of a variety of artworks
- Maintain the collection database and review cataloguing procedures
- Assist with exhibition planning, installation, and public programs
- Research artworks for provenance, interpretation, and significance
- Write engaging content for exhibitions, online platforms, and publications

**About you**
- Tertiary qualifications in Fine Arts, Art History, Visual Arts, Arts Administration, or relevant experience.
- Experience in galleries or museums with knowledge of curatorial and conservation practices.
- Strong knowledge of Australian and Aboriginal art and broad visual arts understanding.
- Proven experience in collection management, exhibitions, research, and publishing.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills for a range of audiences.
- Strong interpersonal, time management, and organisational skills.

**What we offer**
- Temporary part time Term Contract, 21 hours per week, for a period of up to 9 months
- Hourly Rate from $37.7023 to $42.3603 per hour (depending on qualifications, skills and experience) plus 12% superannuation
