About Brisbane Youth Education and Training Centre
The Brisbane Youth Education and Training Centre (BYETC) is a co-educational school that delivers educational programs for up to 162 remanded and sentenced young people at the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre. BYETC students have diverse learning needs, and a significant majority have had disrupted or negative schooling experiences. We seek to address this by supporting students to close individual learning gaps and attain vocational skills leading to qualifications.

**Specific responsibilities of the role will include**:

- Provide coaching, training and support to participants to achieve educational or employment outcomes;
- Ensure all participants are engaged in activities that focus on training, employment or personal development; and
- Build relationships and network with employers, stakeholders, training providers and community links

Experience in delivering vocational training or developing apprentices will be highly valued, as will a demonstrated capacity to build relationships and networks with employers and other stakeholders to support young people to gain entry into the building and construction field.

**Desirable criteria**:

- An understanding of the Australian Government Core Skills for Work Developmental Framework
- Experience with competency-based training in foundation skills and pre-employment training
