Sydney, Australia Optus Full time

Why Optus?
We are a business fuelled by optimism, unwavering customer focus and a team of amazing people.
And that’s where we come in. “the amazing people” part.
We don’t sit back and wait for the future to happen, we are out there crafting our own path through new technology, innovation, and investment. We are truly a challenger brand, with challenger spirit.
The Small Business team at Optus is responsible for driving performance across all aspects of the small business segment, including customer experience, revenue, sales, and financial outcomes. The work is grounded in segment insights, value proposition development, channel performance, go-to-market strategy, and strategic direction-setting across the business. The team works cross-functionally with Marketing, Service, and Delivery teams to ensure small business customers are effectively supported and Optus meets its performance goals.
The Associate Director, Business Community Programs plays a key role in this strategy by developing and leading community-based programs and partnerships that connect Optus more deeply with small business customers. Reporting to the VP of Small Business, the role is focused on delivering initiatives such as the ‘Future Fit’ program and the Small Business Council to support business digitisation and growth. It combines customer-centric innovation, commercial thinking, and strategic partnerships to drive acquisition, retention, and long-term value for both customers and Optus.
Your day to day will consist of...
Lead and scale community driven business programs such as Future Fit and the Optus Small Business Council to strengthen local engagement and drive customer value.
Develop and implement local community strategies, including go-to-market plans and regional playbooks, to embed Optus into key business communities and improve customer experience at a local level.
Build and manage strategic partnerships with industry bodies, chambers of commerce, and small businesses to boost brand trust, visibility, and mutual value.
Drive thought leadership and content creation, collaborating with Marketing and Corporate Affairs to deliver impactful campaigns and insights tailored to small business needs.
Act as the voice of the small business community within Optus, representing their needs in strategy development and ensuring customer-first thinking across all initiatives.
Orchestrate cross-functional collaboration, influencing senior leaders and internal teams to align on and implement business community initiatives effectively and on time.
Own end-to-end delivery of initiatives, including contractual negotiations, program execution, and supervise performance to ensure commercial and operational success.
What makes you perfect for the role?
Extensive hands-on experience in marketing, customer value management (CVM), or related fields, plus demonstrated experience in a leadership role, ideally within telecommunications or a service industry.
Strong commercial and financial competence, including experience with business case development, budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management.
Expertise in proposition development, including positioning, pricing, and promotion, supported by strong data and analytics skills from strategy through to execution.
Tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Business, or a related field.
Proven track record to influence and communicate effectively across all levels, with strong planning, presentation, and stakeholder management capabilities.
Demonstrated problem-solving, adaptability, and self-direction, with a collaborative approach, strategic and critical thinking, and ability to deliver outcomes in complex or ambiguous environments.
Optus is a place where we let you do you. We offer a range of benefits including:
3 days in the office, 2 days remote - with flexible hours to suit
Inclusive gender neutral paid Parental Leave of up to 16 weeks.
Competitive leave including 2 additional 'Connected Leave' Days.
