Solution Designer

**Job Title: Solution Designer**

**Key accountabilities**:

- Review, interpret and respond to detailed user stories/ business requirements specifications (BRS) to ensure alignment between customer expectations and current or future Digital capabilities
- Provide input to the strategic direction of technology investments to assist in the development of the enterprise architecture and maximise the return on technology investment
- Define and design technology solutions to assist the business in meeting their business objectives including technology solutions and changes to service, process and/or operating models
- Develop and implement technology solutions to ensure solutions are implemented as expected and to agreed timeframes
- Design and delivery projects from inception through functional analysis of user stories/requirements, the approval process for business case development, project execution and operational handover to align technological solutions and transform the processes and systems to meet emerging business requirements
- Collaborate with business units and technical experts to develop solutions that meet user stories/ business requirements specifications to ensure alignment between customer expectations and current or future ICT capability

**Key challenges**:

- Identifying system, infrastructure and project interdependencies while balancing competing demands to ensure project deliverables are achieved
- Assessing emerging technologies, the relevance and potential impacts (both threats and opportunities) upon business enablers, cost, performance and sustainability while maintaining the integrity of the service
- Managing complex and sensitive consultations and negotiations with diverse stakeholders, within agreed timelines, given their varying expectations, viewpoints and interests

**Essential Technical Skills**:

- Working knowledge of a broad range of ICT systems such as Cloud, Windows OS, Virtualisation, Networking, Databases, Middleware, Firewall, Storage etc, and how they relate and inter-operate.
- Detailed level working knowledge of specific technology areas as a subset of the above.
- Ability to provide expert level advice, thought leadership and experience on the technical specifics, known issues, possible pitfalls with SME technologies.
- Understanding and experience of avenues for technical escalation with technologies within a company, partner, vendor ecosystem.
- Proven skills in solution and design of infrastructure projects
- Virtualization concepts (VMware), Virtualized Infrastructure Planning & design of Virtual Data Centre
- Experience managing, supporting and architecting large, complex Citrix & VMware solutions
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills using VMware scripting tool kits to automate virtual environment operations
- Design, migration and implementation experience in Citrix & VMware solutions.
- P2V/V2V migrations and exposure to tools.
- Microsoft Windows System administration skills
- Knowledge in Active Directory Configuration and Management
- Develop and Maintain installation and configuration procedures
- Experience in HP, Cisco and Dell Rack & BladeSystems
- Resolve technical issues through diligent research, reproduction and troubleshooting.
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking stack.
- Customer relationship development and influencing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work with external vendors and high level of coordination skills
- Demonstrated understanding of support life cycle.
