**ABOUT THE ROLE**:
**Summary of the role**:
- A rare opportunity exists with the Saltwater Community Team. This is a position within a unique team providing clinical mental health care to residents of the Maribyrnong and Hobsons Bay municipalities.
- This position is operationally responsible to the Saltwater Clinic Program Manager, clinically to the consultant psychiatrist and professionally accountable to senior of discipline for all matters relating to professional practice.
- The senior clinician/Team leader leads a small multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing support to recovery and intake clinicians supporting consumers across Maribyrnong and Hobsons Bay municipalities. Clinical services are provided across all mental illnesses and working closely with the consultant psychiatrist, this role is integral in being a role model to clinicians and as such will spend time supporting and overseeing clinician’s workload.
- The team provides quality mental health services and we believe that good mental health is achievable for all regardless of their starting point. Our services include health promotion and planning, prevention, early intervention and treatment.
- Demonstrate behaviours that support a Recovery approach to care.
- Negotiate multiple complex systems of care to the benefit of service users and their families.
- Ensure that treatment and care is delivered in a manner, which is sensitive to language, family needs, cultural gender and individual differences and within the regulatory framework applicable to clinical mental health services.
- Ensure that service users and families are aware of their rights and responsibilities and are provided with information about their treatment and care.
- Provide user-friendly, accurate, relevant information to service users, carers and families.
- Participate in the review of therapeutic goals, treatment and care within the clinical review setting.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of the collaborative team atmosphere.
**Management**:
- Partake in line management, performance appraisal, and seek support, assistance, training and debriefing as required
- Participate in professional supervision
- Provide orientation to new staff
- Provide activities and training for staff
- Identify professional development goals & pursue opportunities for learning.
- Act as deputy for manager by providing line management, clinical guidance, support, performance and appraisal.
- Deliver, participate in and contribute to ongoing professional development activities and in-service training.
**ABOUT YOU**:
- An AHPRA Registration Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Registered Nurses would also have a Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing Practice (Mental Health) or; a Social Worker with a recognised degree in Social Work and eligibility for membership for the Association of Australian Social Workers.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
- The ability to think critically and problem solve effectively
- A good working knowledge of the Victorian Mental Health Act 2014 and relevant legislation
