**The Role**
The Coordination Officer is accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex administrative support work within an integrated workforce, provide support to the Senior Executive, and exercise a high degree of discretion, judgement and professionalism.
The role is both a coordination and administrative role that encompasses several important functions:
- On behalf of the Chief Technology Officer - Innovation and Strategic Research (CTO I&SR), coordinate the development and preparation of high quality advice for a range of Ministerial, parliamentary, and media correspondence.
- Creating and fostering high functioning networks and relationships with stakeholders from the division, Defence Science and Technology Group and the wider Defence community.
- Coordinate, task, monitor and report on all incoming correspondence and taskings from multiple stakeholders.
- Have the ability to quickly acquire an in-depth knowledge of the role and functions of the branch and division, together with an understanding of how Defence can collaborate with industry and foreign governments.
**About our Team**
The Innovation & Strategic Research Branch team is a highly effective collection of people who work on a number of our Chief Defence Scientist’s key priorities.
As a branch of the Science Strategic Planning and Engagement division, we participate in the co-ordination and development of DSTGs external engagements and science policy and lead the formulation of strategic research and innovation programs, and the investment of resources into Defence science and technology capabilities in terms of:
- AUKUS.
- STaRShots.
- Next Generation Technologies Fund (NGTF).
- Australian Defence Science University Network (ADSUN).

- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, including military personnel and foreign government officers.
- Have excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks.
- Prior Defence experience is desirable.
