**The Role**
As a Researcher - Aeroelasticity and Structural Dynamics (A&SD) for Air and Space Structures, you will be accountable under general direction to undertake moderately complex scientific activities within the field of aeroelastic and structural dynamic analysis and test of air, space and weapons systems.
**About our Team**
Located within Platforms Division, the Aerospace Platform Systems (APS) branch is concerned with optimising the structural and propulsion system performance of ADF platforms in the air and space domains.
The role of the branch is to deliver innovative science and technology solutions for current and future air and space platforms to ensure safety and maximise operational capability and availability whilst minimising sustainment costs.
The platforms include fixed-wing aircraft, rotary-wing aircraft, hypersonic vehicles and satellites operating in unique and demanding physical and operational environments. The unique challenges faced by the ADF in sustaining air and space platforms include assuring sovereign capability and flexibility under demanding operational and physical environments with small fleets, limited industry support and constrained budgets.
The collective and unique capabilities of the Aerospace Platform Systems branch support the full spectrum of ADF air and space platforms, including support to the force-in-being, fundamental and applied research.
Ultimately, the work of the APS branch ensures operational advantage and maximised Air and Space power for ADF operations.
You are passionate about science and in making a difference in Defence as well as possessing an appropriate level of experience in the field of aeroelasticity and structural dynamics.
This will include generating new knowledge to produce enhanced capability in Platform Systems, with both hypersonic’s and space domains being growth areas.
More specifically, you will;
- Have a basic to intermediate level of experience and demonstrated skills in one or more of; structural dynamics; aeroelasticity, aerothermoelasticity; vibration; aircraft/store flutter clearance; ground/flight vibration test and analysis; and weapons vibration test and analysis.
- Be capable of working collaboratively and operate as an effective team member to define and solve research and technical problems. This will include working within and across teams including DSTG, Defence, Industry and academia.
- Be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development and strive to further develop leadership and people management skills and qualities.
